What we do

How we do it

In 2017, we created Adoptalove, a small animal rescue association in Mexico to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate animals and humans.

We rescue stray and abused animals, rehabilitate them physically and emotionally, and find responsible loving homes for them.

We differentiate from other adoption organizations in our rehabilitation and adoption protocols:

All our rescues go through a strict medical protocol in which they are fully checked upon rescue with complete blood work, urine, and fecal tests. We also run leptospirosis tests on all our canine rescues. Puppies under a year old also get tested for distemper and parvovirus. All cats get tested for feline HIV and leukemia. Once we have the complete panel, we decide the next medical steps: parasite control, treatments, x-rays, and CAT scans for orthopedic problems, etc. For specific cases we find the best specialist we can, to provide the proper treatment or intervention.

If bloodwork comes back within range and they seem clinically healthy, we keep them in quarantine in the clinic for about 21 days before we vaccinate, to make sure there are no clinical underlying issues that could be aggravated by vaccines.

During this time, we hire someone to walk them 2-3 times per day. A long relaxing walk to keep them happy and help their immune systems. This also helps us get to know them better in terms of behavior and personality.

After vaccination we wait another 10-15 days to spay/neuter. Once the medical protocol is complete, they are sent to boarding/training. We work with 4 different boarding facilities and decide which one according to the specific needs of each dog: One with lots of space for very active ones, one for the ones that need more socialization, one for the puppies, shy and older ones that need more love and sweetness, and one with a more specialized medical care for those who still undergo treatment. We also work with behaviorists for the special cases that come from abuse or trauma, giving them more time and specialized attention. During this process we also start selecting the dogs that have the characteristics for emotional support animals and begin working with them together with the caretakers.

These strict protocols give adopters the peace of mind that their new best friend is healthy, and they will have a long and happy life together ahead. And in case of special adoptions, they will have clarity about the conditions of the little ones so that they can give them a chance to be cared for and loved in their special condition. We keep all our rescues with us for at least three months so that we can get to know their personality traits and address them if needed with a team of trainers and behaviorists, making sure they are ready to be part of a human family.

The process of filtering and interviewing possible adopting families is thorough and strict to ensure that our rescues will never have to suffer neglect again. We receive applications, conduct interviews with visits (or video calls due to covid restrictions), organize a controlled meeting to evaluate compatibility, and if the applicant seems suitable, we bring the animal to their house following a contract of adoption trial period of at least 3 months, during which we ask for videos, photos, visits, and updates on their adaptation. Once the trial period is over and the adoption is approved, we make the adoption official.

We offer medical, nutritional, behavioral, and training support for life and offer discounted services through alliances with vets, stores, and specialists. This has fortunately created very good relationships and some amazing friendships with our adoptants.

Since 2017 we have rescued over 750 animals, creating many stories with happy endings.

We love being the “match Dog Com” of adoptions because we love helping people find their ideal four-legged companion, according to their lifestyle and specific needs of both the human and the animal. This is what gave place to the project of special adoptions of emotional support dogs.
